Can ATLAS Bunkers Be Installed at Preexisting Homes?
Absolutely. While installing a bunker before building a home is ideal, it’s far from the only option. At Atlas Survival Shelters, we’ve helped countless clients add bunkers to existing properties using a variety of creative approaches. Whether you're working with a wide-open backyard or tight urban space, there’s likely a solution that fits your needs.
Common Installation Methods for Existing Homes
1. In the Yard
This is the simplest and most cost-effective option. The bunker is installed in an open area on your property, typically with the hatch protected by a shed or outbuilding. This keeps it shielded from the elements—and hidden from curious eyes.
2. Add-On Approach
Some homeowners install the bunker just outside the home, then build an addition or small enclosure over the hatch for easy access from indoors. It’s a great option for staying connected while keeping the shelter discreet.

3. Under the Driveway
Though more involved, a few clients have opted to bury their shelter under an existing or newly paved driveway. This offers a stealthy entrance and makes the most of otherwise unused space.

4. Beneath a Barn or Workshop
Another common solution is to install the shelter first, then construct a barn, shop, or utility building over the top. This not only disguises the entrance but adds extra functionality to your property.
5. Custom Solutions
